Cookie Policy

Exactly which cookies and browser storage items this site uses, why, for how long — and how to refuse or remove them.

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. Related technologies include local storage and session storage (key-value data held in the browser), pixels and web beacons (tiny images used to record that a page loaded), and software development kits embedded in third-party widgets. Throughout this policy, "cookies" refers to all of these unless stated otherwise.

Cookies are described as first-party when set by pantrywonderbnch.living and third-party when set by another domain whose content we embed. They are session cookies if they expire when you close the browser, and persistent if they remain for a defined period.

2. Our approach

This site sells nothing, runs no advertising network and builds no user profiles. We therefore use as few cookies as we can. Strictly necessary items are set automatically because the site cannot function without them; everything else is set only after you give consent through the banner. Your choice is recorded in your browser's local storage so the banner does not reappear on every page.

3. Strictly necessary cookies and storage

These cannot be switched off through our banner. Under the ePrivacy Directive and Portuguese Law No. 41/2004, consent is not required for items that are strictly necessary to deliver a service you have requested.

4. Analytics cookies

Set only if you choose "Accept All" or enable Analytics in Preferences. They tell us which articles are read, how far people scroll and which devices are used, so we can prioritise what to research next. Data is aggregated and we do not attempt to identify individuals.

5. Functional cookies

Also optional. These remember preferences and enable embedded third-party features such as the map on our Contact page. If you decline them, the map area will display a static placeholder instead of loading Google content.

6. Advertising and tracking cookies

We use none. There are no advertising networks, retargeting pixels, social media tracking pixels, data brokers or cross-site identity graphs operating on pantrywonderbnch.living. If this ever changes, this policy will be updated and fresh consent will be requested before any such technology is deployed.

7. Managing your choices on this site

You can change your decision at any time by selecting Cookie Settings in the footer of any page, which reopens the consent panel. Choosing "Reject Non-Essential" disables analytics and functional items immediately for subsequent page loads. Clearing your browser storage for this domain resets your choice entirely and the banner will appear again on your next visit.

8. Browser-level opt-out instructions

9. Consequences of blocking cookies

Blocking strictly necessary items may cause the consent banner to reappear on every page load and may affect security protections applied by our content delivery network. Blocking functional items disables the embedded map. Blocking analytics has no effect on your experience at all — it simply means we learn less about which articles are useful.

10. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where your browser sends it: GPC is treated as a valid opt-out from all non-essential cookies and, for California residents, as an opt-out of "sale" and "sharing" under the CPRA. Legacy Do Not Track headers are also respected for analytics purposes.

11. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We review this policy at least annually and whenever we add or remove a technology. The revision date at the top of the page shows the current version. Where changes materially affect your privacy, we will request renewed consent through the banner.
